New Jersey native, storyteller & explorer of this tiny corner of the universe.
Hi! I'm Allie. A New Jersey based art educator, photographer and writer. A visual storyteller driven by the bits of life that remind us of its' fragility and how to find meaning within our day-to-days that can feel bound to routine.
From September to June, you can find me working as an elementary art teacher helping the little ones expand their creativity and build their own "toolboxes" for self expression. From a young age, I have always had a love of learning and being an advocate for helping others see the potential they have within themselves. I earned my Bachelors of Art in Visual Arts with concentrations in Education and Photography and Master of Arts in Teaching with a certification to teach students of disabilities at Montclair State University.
I’m a 5th-year elementary art teacher who works with Pre-K through 3rd grade, including adapted art. I believe art should be accessible, creative, and joyful for every student. I also teach a mindful art class for 3rd graders, where I combine social-emotional learning (SEL) and mindfulness practices with hands-on artmaking. I have spent 4 years teaching art on a cart and this is my first year with my own classroom. I have learned throughout this experience how to make art engaging for students, while also manageable and flexible for different teaching environments. I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year for the 2024–2025 school year, a recognition that reflects my dedication to inspiring creativity and supporting every learner. Beyond the classroom, I am the chairperson for the Art Educators of New Jersey's Bergen County Youth Art Month and share resources for art teachers on my Teachers Pay Teachers shop, Miss Manamakes. This past year, I have also founded my business, Manalili Studio, where I host mindful art craft nights for adults—creating a welcoming space for people to slow down, connect, and rediscover their creativity. Both in school and in the community, I strive to make art a source of joy, mindfulness, and empowerment.
Art, to me, has always been about capturing the raw beauty of a moment. Whether that's in nature or a candid shot of laughter between friends or even just the outpour of pent up emotions on a canvas. Feelings pass and being able to capture that is something special. Our emotions are what reminds us that we're alive and still going, still growing.
In my free time, you can often find me exploring the city, adding to my wellness routine and spending time with friends and family.
Work with me!
Thank you!
